White Mountain Apache Tribe Donation Drive

August 14, 2020, Fill the Truck Day Trip 2

Due to the overwhelming response on the first Fill the Truck day, an additional day was added to take all the remaining items up north.

Thank you to all those that continued to drop off donations throughout the week and again to our AMAZING Youth Group Director Jarrod Phillips and our youth group volunteers. This could not have been accomplished without your service.

July 30, 2020, Fill the Truck Update!

Today's Fill the truck has been a success! Thank you to everyone that came out all week with your donations. Every item donated will make a huge difference in this community's lives.

Thank you to Jarrod and our amazing Youth Ministry for giving their all in the 116-degree weather sorting, boxing, loading, and unloading!

We could not have done this without the help and support of everyone involved.

Fill the Truck!

July 22, 2020

By The Rev. Canon Debbie Royals, Canon for Native American Ministries

The Council for Native American Ministry continues to respond to the COVID-19 crisis in our Native American communities. You may be aware that the White Mountain Apache tribe is currently listed as having the highest number of positive cases per capita of any tribe in AZ. They are struggling to care for the high number of individuals infected and those who are in quarantine.

I have been in touch directly with Chairwoman Gwendena Lee-Gatewood, and her first response to me was that we (The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona) are an answer to their prayers. We have been sending up hand sanitizer and masks, as well as water and other items, as we were made aware of their needs. She has presented a list of items they need, and we have made plans to deliver what we collect directly to Whiteriver at the end of this month.

The list of items needed at this time are:

  • Water
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Personal Hygiene Items (including diapers, Depends, and underwear in all sizes)
  • Non-perishable food items (for people in quarantine) to include soups, meats, peanut butter, etc.
  • Thermometers
  • Level 1 and 2 Sterile gowns for their hospital

Items collected should be brought to:

Good Shepherd of the Hills
6502 E. Cave Creek Rd.
Cave Creek, AZ 85331

Note from GSOTH- We are accepting donations Monday, July 37 thru Thursday, July 30 from 8 am to 4 pm in the Church Courtyard and Maitland Hall.
