Ways to Serve
Church Service Ministries
Good Shepherd of the Hills counts on our volunteers to keep our services running smoothly for everyone. We have a place for everyone’s talents, and would be grateful to have your help. Below are just a few ways you can serve in the church. Contact us for questions or to get started!
Acolytes/Altar Servers
Serve at the altar on Sundays and other occasions of worship. Their primary role is to assist the clergy during worship and help in the distribution of the Eucharistic Elements.
Altar Guild
Open to all ages, these dedicated men and women care for the vessels and vesture of worship as well as set up for all services of worship.
Eucharistic Visitor
Our lay ministers share the sacrament…administer consecrated bread and wine…with members of the congregation who are unable to be present at the celebration because of illness or infirmity.
Flower Guild
This group is responsible for the Altar flower arrangements every Sunday as well and decorating the church for special events/services.
Greeters
Greeters serve as the “face of Good Shepherd” welcoming both newcomers and old friends.
Lectors
The public reading of Holy Scripture during worship as well as leading the prayers falls to the Lectors.
Music Ministry
Our talented singing choir and newly-organized bell choir welcome all parishioners to practice and join the groups for Sunday morning services.
Ushers
Every Sunday, our ushers take turns assisting with offerings, distribution of bulletins, seating, and guiding our parishioners during communion.
